COMMISSION — ‘Cassidy Stantin’.

“Witchy, dark, confident, brash.” - Description of ‘Cassidy’, by the client.

Cassidy is the epitome of dark, feminine energy. I have been commissioned to bring her to life a few times, and every piece has been witchy and darkly divine. Cassidy’s heritage stems from Mexico, and my client wanted to reflect this with a traditional Day of the Dead ‘sugar skull’ piece. Admittedly it wasn’t a festival I knew a huge amount about beyond the surface, so doing research into the holiday was incredibly interesting. My client requested that half of the body be skeletal, and she also requested an alternate coloured piece with pure white hair, signifying Cassidy’s un-death and rebirth. I used royal purples to accentuate and give depth to the black on one piece, and deeper reds on the second piece. The flowers were chosen through research into gothic wedding bouquets. Initially I wanted half of the bouquet to be withered and dead, but I found it drew the eye away from her head and face, and skeletal upper body.
